Should you write a book?
This is what I learned from publishing. my book:
This spring, I published a book. It’s not in bookstores, it's a workbook. A beautifully designed, magazine-style guide to help you build the foundations of your personal brand. something I made because I wanted to give people more than just information, I wanted to create an experience.
The kind of thing you can flip through on a slow Saturday. With a glass of wine. Or a strong cup of coffee. The kind of thing that actually makes you stop and reflect, and gets you to put pen to paper. And the messages I’ve gotten from people reading warm my heart.
Someone told me they took it on vacation and sat in the sun doing the exercises. Someone else said it helped them write their first LinkedIn post ever. That's why I believe publishing something of your own is still one of the most powerful brand moves you can make.
But should everyone do it? This is what I've learned from publishing a book, and my best tips for you! ⤵️
So… should everyone publish a book?
Not necessarily. But if you’re trying to build a personal brand, and especially if you’re a consultant, coach, creative, speaker, or entrepreneur it’s worth thinking about.
And no, it doesn’t have to be a 300-page life manifesto. There are many ways to publish your ideas:
A printed book
A digital-only ebook
A mini-guide or zine
A branded workbook (like mine)
The format doesn’t matter nearly as much as the intention behind it.
A book, or even just something book-shaped gives your ideas weight. It says: “I care enough about this to capture it. To craft it. To print it. To share it.”
And when someone holds it in their hands, the message is clear: this person knows what they’re doing.
What I’ve learned from publishing mine:
A book is a trust-building tool. People take you more seriously. It opens doors. And it stays with people longer than a post ever will.
People love to have something physical. Even in a digital world, there’s something powerful about holding your work. It feels real. Tangible. Personal.
You don’t need to wait until your brand is “done.” The act of writing it clarifies your brand. It helps you connect the dots for yourself, as much as for others.
You should probably charge for it. Even if it’s small. Even if it’s symbolic. And if you do give it away for free it will feel like a gift worth so much MORE.
So if you’ve ever thought, “Maybe one day I’ll write a book…” I want to tell you this:
That “one day” can be sooner than you think. And it doesn’t have to be a big, scary thing. It can be a guide. A story. A workbook. A blueprint. It can be 20 pages. It can be 200. What matters is that it’s yours.
✨ Want to see mine? Here’s the book I published this spring.
It’s part brand strategy, part creative prompt, and part love letter to people who want to show up more and become the obvious choice in their field.
If that’s you, and you want the book you can get it here, and with the code LINK you can choose to download it for free, or pay a voluntary amount for it. All I ask is that you USE it. Because it won’t to anyone any good if it’s never read.
Thinking about writing your own book? I’d be happy to share what worked (and what I’d do differently next time). Just reply or send me a message, I always love talking about this stuff. 💛
