I can't watch myself, I know I'll hate it!
I was really surprised by something my client said the other day...
I work with many CEOs and executives on personal branding, and it’s fascinating how, despite their different industries, they all face similar challenges.
One big one? Putting themselves out there as the face of their organizations—internally and externally. Many of them feel insecure about it. Yes, even CEOs feel nervous about taking up space here on LinkedIn.
Leaders are humans too. They deal with imposter syndrome just like the rest of us.
Recently, one of my clients admitted they didn't want to watch footage of themselves. "Just post it, I trust you" - they said. Honestly? I was surprised and impressed at the same time. But I understand. Seeing yourself on camera, hearing your own voice—it feels unnatural for most of us.
I know I still struggle with this from time to time. But back when I started working on my personal brand I felt terrible about it, especially being filmed. Like, who am I to take up space? Who am I to claim these things? I'm sure that many others are as good as I am. But the truth is, there's space enough for everyone. You don't need all clients, you need YOUR clients. The ones that want to work with you because of who YOU are.
Now, how are they going to find you if you don't share anything? Do you even really want to to be found?

Here’s the thing: leadership isn’t about being perfect. It’s about embracing discomfort, taking those courageous steps, and showing up anyway. That vulnerability is often what makes them role models for others.
And hey, if nothing else, don't you think it might be worth putting yourself out there if it would actually effect the bottom line? My client did, and I know they are happy with the results.
I did, and I can honestly tell you that working on my personal brand has changed my life and my business for the better.

True leadership isn't just about leading a company - it's about inspiring others to grow by watching you grow too. I'm extremely proud of all my clients who face their fears and deal with imposter syndrome every damn day.
Just do it. Because on the other side of fear is everything you want.
(Sorry for the preachy moment, but that's REALLY how I feel <3)
